From the Morton Arboretum in Illinois. More cold hardy than A. campestre and more heat/drought resistant than A. platanoides. Good for pollinators, tolerates heat. Native to a few scattered locations near streams and rivers in Hokkaido, Japan where it is now endangered in the wild.
